Almost Home
tagged as: poem. poetry.
Since I can’t fly a plane to you
I’ll move this dessert farther
Until it reaches your archipelago
Or throw my mattress
Into these blue, restless waters
To help me reach you quicker
I will paddle and paddle some more
Until I get to see that familiar smile
Upon your tear-stricken face
Sleepless, tired and still trying
I can hear static, my vision blurs
My mind starts to give me away
But fortunately enough
The world switched on a lamp;
This heart that you’ve rescued
Has spoken subtly to the roads that
Are finally here to bring me to you,
I am no longer cold; I’m almost home
